Our client is a global securities trading firm trading across the Asia-Pac markets out of Sydney. They are seeking a paralegal to join them as either a full time or part time employee (flexible work hours if required) to assist and provide general support to the legal department. The ideal candidate will have some financial services legal experience, have an outgoing personality and be educated with a legal degree (completed or part way through).
Responsibilities:
- Legal document management, including maintaining legal contracts database
- Proof reading, editing, tracking and formatting complex legal instruments and documents
- Preparation of standard form contracts (largely in house and industry standard agreements) based on precedents
- Review and negotiation of commercial agreements (for example, broking and electronic trading agreements, confidentiality agreements and other service agreements)
- Responding to Know Your Customer (KYC) requests from new trading counterparties
- Work closely with IT and Operations to improve work systems and processes
- Adhere strictly to applicable firm policies
Requirements:
Technical expertise:
- Good understanding of common commercial agreements
- Good understanding of a general documentation processes
- Familiarity with KYC Risk assessment checks as part of Anti-Money Laundering Compliance
- Familiarity with legal databases and document management
Relationship Management:
- Ability to build strong and positive relationships both internally and with external contacts
- Ability to work with offshore colleagues and manage time differences
