KKR looks to strengthen Asian property team

Private equity giant KKR & Co is seeking to bolster its Asian property business by hiring a dealmaker to work under regional real estate head Bryan Southergill.

KKR has approached local property advisers about joining the firm, which is making a worldwide push into real estate and credit.

Mr Southergill, JPMorgan’s former head of proprietary real estate special situations in Asia, is well-known in Australian property circles for his investments in Melbourne’s DFO and Meridien Retirement Living.

KKR has already poached Colin Zhou from Morgan Stanley to work with Southergill
