Anton Murray Consulting is a boutique financial services recruitment firm based in Sydney CBD. We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our team on a flexible part time basis. We are a dynamic team who work collaboratively and encourage an entrepreneurial spirit. A candidate who takes initiative and actively seeks to learn and grow in the role is essential. The role is flexible and days and hours worked can be negotiated with the successful candidate.

This role will report directly to the CFO and work closely with him. The scope of the role will be determined by the successful candidate. There is capacity for this to be an involved accounting position for an experienced applicant, but can also be adapted to a more junior candidate looking to develop. Tertiary education in an accounting field is essential.

Responsibilities:

  • Accounts payable: manage invoices as they come in to the team, paying them in a timely manner and accurately recording these transactions in MYOB
  • Accounts receivable: creating and issuing invoices for permanent placements and regular payroll contractors. Engaging with clients to chase overdue invoices and manage accounts.
  • Bank reconciliations: Managing the business credit cards – ensuring transactions are recorded in MYOB and reconciling each month
  • Expense reporting: Collecting, verifying and submitting expense claims for the team
  • Payroll: managing fortnightly payroll for the Anton Murray Consulting team and our book of contractors – this includes collecting and verifying timesheets from contractors and managers, chasing hours and liaising with clients
  • P&L and revenue reporting: Tracking contractor hours and permanent revenue, providing regular reporting to the CFO and Director
  • Other accounting reporting: On an ad hoc basis you may assist the CFO with other accounts reporting, such as the BAS and FBT

A successful candidate:

  • Minimum 1 year experience in an accounting or assistant accounting role
  • Tertiary education in Accounting or Commerce, working towards CA or CPA will be looked upon highly
  • Experience using MYOB
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication skills, particularly over email
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite – particularly Excel
  • Motivated, driven and looking to join an exciting team!

This role will be recruited initially on a 12 month basis, with a view to extend.
