


This Project Manager position will be based in Melbourne, working as part of a highly regarded Asset Management business on an initial 12-month contract.
This role will focus primarily on setting up a legal entity in Australia and establishing an Australian Financial Services License. This will include ensuring the business is operationally ready to perform activities from the new entity – that will include activities such as setting up governance structures, operational process flows and meeting any operational resiliency requirements.
This resource is expected to be required for approximately 12 months.
Knowledge & Skills required:
- This role falls within the APAC Asset Management business of our client and is within the Melbourne Asset Management team.
- The Project Manager is responsible for the whole lifecycle of the project from initial planning, scope, governance through to testing and implementation and after completion review.
- You will be guided and working closely with the Head of the Front office Support Team in Hong Kong and locally with the Head of the Asset Management in Melbourne. Support will also be provided from the London Project Management Office (PMO) and flexibility in working with different time zones is essential.
- A strong business analysis background will be held in high regard.
Key responsibilities of the role include:
- Focus of role is on execution of strategic direction of business function activities as it relates to the setting up of an Australian entity
- Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and / or business knowledge and functional expertise
- Co-ordinating across the Business unit and with the relevant SMEs
- Independently deliver a complex change initiative which is cross-enterprise and Business unit
- Collation of updates across the work streams for upward reporting to senior managers, actively managing the relationship and engagement with C-suite stakeholders as well as cross-border regulators and industry bodies
- Reporting to the appropriate Asset Management Steering Committees or forums, as needed
The successful candidate will benefit from having:
- Previous experience working in a asset management business in a project management capacity
- A good understanding of current regulatory environment across the Industry, as it relates to Australian Licensing
- An understanding of life cycle of a securities trade from order through to executed trade
- Experience of fund management systems for equities, fixed income and futures
- Excellent communication skills. Will work with end users in a time sensitive environment. Users include Sales Teams, Portfolio Managers, Risk and Compliance Analysts, Operations and Technology
- Strong global awareness and adaptability in order to work well with partners/users in various locations/time zones (including but not limited to London, Chicago, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, Bangalore)
- Excellent communication skills, verbal, written and presentational
This is an exceptional opportunity for a project manager to join a leading global asset manager in Melbourne, on a long-dated 12 month contract duration to work on a range of high profile projects.
This position will be paid on an hourly rate, with the pay variable depending on prior relevant project management experience within asset or investment management. The likely hourly rate payable for this contract is $120-130ph inc super, so on an 8hr day this equates to circa $1,000pd, although notably given you are paid on an hourly basis you will probably earn more during busy weeks or months.
