Salary description: Variable Rate Dependent on Prior Experience

Our client is a leading, global financial services institution, looking to hire a Project Manager to work with their Asset Management team on an initial 9-month contract in their Melbourne Office.

This role in particular will be concerned with supporting key initiatives across the broader APAC region, where as part of a global team, the successful candidate will perform critical functions in delivering value for broader stakeholders. Business functions encompassed by this role will include portfolio management, operations, data and analytics, regulatory compliance, and more.

Knowledge & Skills required:

  • This contract role falls within the Asset Management business and is within the Project Management Office team (PMO). PMO is responsible for delivering projects that support the business strategic goals.
  • The strategic objectives involve a broad range of initiatives to minimise risk, enhance productivity and improve operating leverage across all areas impacting Asset Management in EMEA and APAC. The team also work with partners in other regions and contribute to Global priorities.
  • The size of the projects the team works on can vary from smaller more local implementations, to large multi streamed Global installations. The team therefore co-ordinates activities across multiple locations and business functions.
  • The Project Manager is responsible for the whole lifecycle of the project from initial planning, scope, governance through to testing and implementation and after completion review.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Focus of role is on execution of strategic direction of business functional activities across the spectrum of our portfolio.
  • Seasoned multi-disciplinary expert with extensive technical and / or business knowledge and functional expertise
  • Co-ordinating across the Business unit and with the relevant SMEs
  • Independently deliver a complex change initiative which is cross-enterprise and Business unit
  • Collation of updates across the work streams for upward reporting to senior managers, actively managing the relationship and engagement with C-suite stakeholders as well as cross-border regulators and industry bodies
  • Reporting to the appropriate Asset Management Steering Committees or forums, as needed

The successful candidate will benefit from having:

  • Proven experience in the Asset Management space leading and participating in transformational initiatives. PMP qualification preferred.
  • Proven relevant experience with regulatory change, managing projects or leading large initiatives within a large, global organisation, preferably Financial services
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented, analytical and inquisitive
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to influence and negotiate with stakeholders without being confrontational
  • Ability to work independently and with others
  • Extremely organised with strong time-management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Applications (Visio, Word, Excel, PPT, etc.)
  • Tertiary degree (highly desirable)
