The Senior financial accountant is part of a team responsible for ensuring the Finance & Control department meets its Financial, Regulatory & Control obligations.

Direct Responsibilities

Controls:

  • Oversee the execution of Daily, Monthly and Quarterly first level controls for the bank branch
  •  Perform 2nd level control as required by APAC finance.

Reporting:

  • Preparation and review of audit files for the external auditors
  • Preparation of daily LCR
  • Preparation of the local statutory financial statements and Annual Statutory returns
  • Provide assistance to APAC finance head office reporting team with data validation, reporting,
    analysis etc
  • Production of local regulatory reporting to APRA, ABS, RBA, ASIC, etc

Tax:

  • Preparation of quarterly tax effect accounting
  • Preparation of and / or assistance with monthly BAS return
  • Preparation of and / or assistance with GST returns, BAS, AIIR reports, IAS and WHT
  • Preparation of information for tax returns

General:

  • Back up other team members during leave
  • Provide support to other department on ad-hoc request
  • Assistance to the Head of Financial Reporting & Control on ad-hoc projects.

Core requirements for the role:
• Accounting qualifications
• Membership of CPA/CA

  • Strong technical knowledge of Regulatory Reporting
  • Exposure to Australian Prudential Standards
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Good understanding of financial products, control and risk assessment implications
  • Solid systems knowledge
  • Beneficial: Banking experience preferred with an understanding of concepts such as capital requirements, risk/return analysis, credit risk, country risk, liquidity risk, transfer pricing etc. being desirable
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience of statutory account preparation
