Our client, a leading global financial institution, is seeking a highly skilled Senior Private Equity Fund Accountant to lead a small team within the private capital department on a permanent basis in their Sydney office. 

In this key role, you will be responsible for overseeing crucial processes in fund operations, including monthly pricing, investor cashflows, and financial reporting. You will act as the first point of escalation in the event of any issues and will be pivotal in maintaining operational excellence within the fund.

This position requires a strong technical accounting background and significant experience within the private capital sector. As part of your responsibilities, you will manage the Private Equity Accounting group, ensuring strategic goals are met while providing leadership and guidance to the team.

You will report to the Head of Private Capital Administration and contribute to the strategic direction of business functions and client relationships.

What You Will Do

  • Manage the Private Equity Accounting group(s), overseeing daily operations and ensuring optimal performance.
  • Conduct performance management processes, identifying training needs, setting performance standards, and motivating the team.
  • Make staffing decisions and ensure the appropriate resources are in place to meet priorities.
  • Provide leadership support within large specialized groups, contributing to the strategic planning and budget management process.
  • Lead complex initiatives across multiple disciplines, focusing on execution and resolving ambiguous issues.
  • Liaise with business partners to drive efficiency, productivity, and operational effectiveness.
  • Offer hands-on training to staff and provide input for staffing decisions and career development.
  • Organize periodic goals, prioritize tasks, monitor activities, and ensure timely and accurate completion of all work.
  • Provide input and support to the budget management process.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • In-depth functional and industry knowledge of private equity and fund operations.
  • Highly adaptable and flexible to changing business needs.
  • Strong technical accounting skills and systems knowledge.
  • Leadership and organizational skills with a focus on team motivation, goal setting, and performance management.
  • Proven ability to manage and execute complex projects with a strategic focus.

Experience & Qualifications

  • A relevant degree (College or University) or proven work experience in a similar role.
  • Extensive experience within private equity or fund accounting is required.
  • A related industry qualification is preferred.
