Bitcoin suits up: Institutions swap coins for ETFs

Major institutions are turning Bitcoin into a “plug-and-play” investment tool via the world’s fastest growing ETF, as shifting market sentiment pushes holders to rethink how they access the asset. With AI-driven equities, gold and commodities stealing the spotlight, some investors are less focused on holding Bitcoin natively and more interested in wrapping it in familiar, regulated structures that integrate seamlessly with traditional finance. Zerocap says key players are increasingly moving their Bitcoin holdings into BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) and, as a result, the digital asset firm has launched an Australia-first BTC-to-IBIT ETF swap.
“It’s as close to plug-and-play as you can get. It helps the banks alleviate the issues associated with building out their own crypto native rails. They don’t ever actually have to touch the physical Bitcoin,” said head of sales, Mark Hiriart. “It’s a fast-track way for traditional institutions to get Bitcoin into their ecosystem.”
