Our client is a growing International Asset Manager with a significant market present in Australia. The Assistant Portfolio Manager will join a team of Investment professionals that form the core function of the business and drives its ultimate success.
Job Purpose:
- Assist with management of the assets of all ETFs.
- Ensure all ETFs perform in line with their investment objectives and remain within mandates.
- Prepare daily reconciliations between front office systems and the official valuations.
- Identifying and executing trades necessary for funds to meet their investment objectives, including index changes, cash flows, corporate actions, and currency hedging.
- Monitoring of capital markets activities.
- Assist with regular fund reporting requirements, including preparation of reports for management, external data vendors, regulators, and service providers.
- Developing front office tools.
- Respond to ad hoc request for fund information from sales and clients.
- Collaborate and coordinate efforts with portfolio administration, compliance, and other business functions.
Key Accountabilities and Scope:
- An understanding of the investment process for ETFs from the point of purchase of the ETF to the allocation and management of the assets on an ongoing basis.
- Daily monitoring of fund exposures relative to the underlying index.
- Daily monitoring and analysis of tracking error including identifying and resolving any problems.
- Daily sign-off of fund valuations and production of fund composition files.
- Liaise with market makers in relation to capital markets activities.
- Provide input into product development from the initial concept stage, through to design, index selection and implementation.
- Monitor service providers to ensure activities are carried out in accordance with SLAs,
- Liaise with legal and compliance regularly to ensure all activities are carried-out within the regulatory framework.
Skills and Qualifications Required:
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, e.g. CFA.
- 3 to 5 years of previous experience in asset management, index/portfolio trading desk an advantage.
- Excellent technical knowledge of financial products, strong analytical and numerical skills to calculate and interpret portfolio management and risk measurements.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge including advanced skills in VBA programming. Proficiency in other programming languages desirable.
