


This is a great opportunity for a candidate with 1-3 years’ relevant experience to join a leading global commodities trading firm in Sydney.
As a key member of the team, excellent communication and relationship management skills are required to maintain an independent view whilst also adding value by providing accurate data directly to the trading desk.
Responsibilities:
- Trade capture & reconciliation of physical oil and paper trades
- Daily position exposure monitoring and reporting, highlighting exposure concentration and hedging requirements.
- Managing FX currency exposure and forecasting medium to long term funding and hedging requirements.
- Profit & Loss computation & validating this against market movements or other costs / revenues.
- Daily capture and accrual of secondary costs/revenues and periodic reviews of book accrual status.
- Daily interaction with Operations staff on various aspects of physical oil logistics, quality and costs.
- Liaising with Financial Control team on accounting matters or trade / cost capture in accordance with company guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Tracking of physical trade movements and notifications and update the relevant trades in the system.
Education & Experience:
- Prior knowledge of commodities markets a plus but not required as sufficient training will be provided
- Analytical, control-focused, organised, attention to detail, diligent individual, who exhibits a strong work ethic and taking initiative.
- Experienced in working with a high level of trust and integrity.
- Good communication skills imperative, for liaising with both internal parties.
- Able to understand and pick up quickly new working practices and execute tasks with a high degree of accuracy, quickly and calmly, whilst under pressure.
- Ability to marry the understanding of a physical oil business with data.
- Technology & systems: High degree of proficiency in excel required, experience with Programming languages (R/Python/SQL) a plus.
