Our client is a leading fund management asset owner based in Melbourne. They are currently seeking and experienced Business Analyst with extensive funds management Investment data experience to join their firm for an initial 12 month contract.  You will be responsible for providing the business and technical analysis, research and information collation, and documentation capabilities. 

The ideal applicant would also have strong data analysis experience, specifically in analysing large datasets within an asset management environment and a demonstrated understanding of core investment concepts e.g. Investment Risk Management, Hedging & Rebalancing, Security Master, Entity Mastering, Market Data capture, Accounting & Investment Book of Records and Performance Returns calculation.

While the role reports to the Senior Manager – Project Delivery, the role will be dedicated to supporting the Investment Data Management (IDM) function. Our client has embarked on an ambitious transformation journey over the past four years, significantly enhancing its investment data and technology capabilities

Responsibilities:

Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering

·         Understand the IDM project objectives and requirements to ensure the right context is applied to all activities.

·         Identify and build relationships with the appropriate internal and external stakeholders; proactively involve the right stakeholders in determining business needs and solution requirements; engage them throughout the project to build understanding, support and change readiness.

·         Collaborate with these external partners and internal teams to workshop, capture and document the Agency’s Investment Data requirements.

·         Assist Business Leads and SMEs to understand project plans, milestones and project activities and act as an advocate for their requirements.

·         Assess and communicate business impact and contribute to documentation to support change readiness and transition to Business as Usual activities.

·         Assist the team to deliver activities including facilitation of training sessions with end users where required.

·         Assist Project Managers and the team leads in the tracking of project and initiative activities and in the resolution of project risks and issues.

·         Document business processes and complete other project artefacts and deliverables as determined by the Agency’s project delivery methodology.

·         Champion a focus on high quality outcomes and exceptional stakeholder experiences.

·         Present new ideas and approaches to stakeholders across the Agency.

·         Recognise promising ideas and find ways to introduce them into the Agency’s future planning and discard ideas that are ineffective, costly, or beyond the scope of the Agency’s mission or abilities to develop.

·         Anticipate stakeholder needs and understand how other Agency business plans can be supported through existing and new IDM capabilities.

Testing analysis and support

·         Assist Test Leads, Testers and Business Stakeholders in the successful execution of testing activities, for example User Acceptance Testing (UAT).

·         Collaborate with testers to ensure full understanding of business requirements, comprehensive, risk-based test coverage, and prompt defect resolution.

·         Write Test Plans/Cases as needed, as well as be involved during test plan implementation.

·         Provide guidance, training and on-the-job coaching to testers.

Partner and Vendor Management

·         Support the oversight of partner delivery of new change.

·         Support the IDM Relationship Manager and Product Owners to monitor partner products and services to ensure that they are being delivered in line with IDM solutioning parameters.

·         Support the prioritisation, project management and product management of data and data service requests with IDM partners.

Qualifications / Experience:

 ·         Extensive project experience performing business analysis responsibilities.

·         Demonstrated project experience in the financial services industry.

·         Experience delivering data & analytics solutions in financial services, with a demonstrated understanding of core investment concepts e.g. Investment Risk Management, Hedging & Rebalancing, Security Master, Entity Mastering, Market Data capture, Accounting & Investment Book of Records and Performance Returns calculation.

·         Demonstrated ability and experience with enterprise data management applications, data vendors, analysis systems or portfolio administration applications such as NeoXam, GoldenSource, FactSet, Matrix, Finbourne etc.

·         Working knowledge and demonstrated experience analysing investment data models applied by custodians, data service providers and preferably experience with private markets administrators.

·         Working knowledge and demonstrated experience in data management governance practices, including a comprehensive understanding of end-to-end business processes in data operations.

·         Proficient in the use of Excel, Databricks, SQL and Python.

·         Experience working with data warehousing platforms and data migration projects.

·         Proven ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of stakeholders, including executives, managers, SMEs, outsourced partners and consultants.

·         Working knowledge of contemporary business analysis methodologies, practices, techniques and tools.
