Glencore joins ASX, adding weight to dual-listed resources
InvestorDaily
Glencore has been admitted to the ASX Official List as a Foreign Exempt Listing, with its first day of trading expected on 14 October 2026. The listing brings another major global resources company to the Australian market. In a statement, law firm Mallesons noted that the move comes at a time when large new ASX listings remain relatively scarce. The possibility of a Glencore listing had first been flagged back in August following a review of opportunities to broaden its investor base and enhance trading liquidity.
Australia is one of Glencore’s most important jurisdictions as the company has significant copper, coal, zinc and nickel operations in the country and employs 16,800 people here. “Australia is home to one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing pools of long-term investment capital, with $4.4 trillion in pension assets expected to grow to approximately $12.4 trillion by 2045. The market also offers access to a highly sophisticated investor base with deep expertise in the global resources sector,” Glencore wrote at the time.
